Transfer
From yes to the name in your account
The order never changes: your money is held by a neutral escrow service, the name moves to you, and only then is the money released. You never pay us directly before the name is yours.
What happens, and how long it takes
Times are for a single payment. Most of the waiting is on the escrow and registrar side, not yours.
- We confirm the termsSame day
A short email sets out the name, the price, who pays the escrow fee and the company that will own the name. You reply to confirm. That email and your reply are the agreement.
- Escrow is openedWithin one business day
We set up the transaction at a licensed escrow service and you receive its invitation directly from the service, not from us. You check the terms there match the email, then accept.
- You pay the escrow serviceOne to three business days
By wire or card, to the escrow service. It confirms to both sides once the funds are held. We cannot touch them.
- The name moves to youSame day to about a week
If you use the same registrar we do, the name is pushed into your account, often within hours. If not, we unlock it and send the transfer code, you start the transfer at your registrar, and the registries complete it in up to about five to seven days.
- You confirm, funds are releasedWhen you say so
Once the name shows in your account, you confirm it to the escrow service, which then pays us. If you forget, the service reminds you; it does not release anything without your confirmation or its own inspection period ending.
Said up front
If something stalls
Transfers rarely go wrong, but these are the questions buyers ask, with honest answers.
- The transfer code is refused
Usually a lock we forgot to lift or a code that expired. We fix it the same day and send a fresh one.
- The registrar holds the name for sixty days
Some registrars block moving a name to another registrar for sixty days after an ownership change. If that applies, the name is placed in your control at our registrar in the meantime and moves when the hold ends; escrow waits with it.
- You change your mind before paying
Then the escrow transaction is cancelled and nothing is owed. We would rather know early than chase.
- You need the name live before the transfer ends
Once the funds are held, we can point the name at your site or mail provider straight away, so nothing waits on the registrars.
Ready to ask?
Send the name, and Claire replies with the price and anything she knows that is relevant to it, usually the same day.
