Price

One number, and the reasons behind it

Ask about a name and you get a single figure, the one we would accept, not an opening bid and not a range. Here is what goes into it, so the number does not arrive out of nowhere.

What the price is built from

No formula settles it, but the same five things are weighed for every name, and we will tell you which of them mattered most for yours.

How it is typed and said

Short, one spelling, no doubt about where the words split. A name people hear once and type correctly is worth more than one they have to see written down.

What the category is worth

A word for something people spend a lot on, often, carries more value than a word for a niche hobby. That is about the market, not about your company.

Who else could use it

If several companies would be natural owners, the name holds its value longer. If only one would, we take that into account in the other direction.

Public sales of similar names

Reported sales of comparable .com names give a rough frame. They are a reference, never a promise that yours would sell for the same.

Visits it already gets

Some names receive people typing them in with no link anywhere. Where that is measurable, we share what we see.

Said up front

Why there is no range

A range tells you the real number is somewhere else, and starts a contest neither side needs. We would rather give you the figure we would accept and let you decide whether it makes sense for your business.

You are welcome to come back with a different number. If we can move, we will say how far. If we cannot, we will say that too, plainly, and the name stays open to you if your plans change later.

Paying for it

The agreed price is the whole price. You do not pay a broker's commission on top, and there is no fee for asking.

In one payment

Through a licensed escrow service, by bank wire or card. The escrow fee is agreed with the price, usually shared between us.

Over several months

For some names, in equal monthly instalments through the same escrow service. The name points wherever you choose from the first month and moves into your registrar account after the last payment.

Invoices and paperwork

An invoice in your company's name comes with the purchase, for your own records. There is nothing else to sign beyond the escrow terms and a one-page confirmation of the sale.
